When you first start your business there are times when you will struggle.

There are times when you will need to work long hours and late nights.

And if you are not enjoying the process, you will burn out…

While talking to Milton Morris, he told me about his first few years in business and how his love for his work kept him going.

Even when things got rough...

Here's what Milton Morris, founder of Gorgeous Flowers had to say:

"

THE CONVERSATION WITH MILTON MORRIS

When I first started my business it was under a mango tree in my yard.

Back then I used to do everything myself, from taking orders to doing delivery.

In fact, my first delivery was done with my bicycle.

I would buy the flowers, ride to my destination, make the arrangements there and go back home.

There was even a point where I rode from Constant Spring to Old Harbor, to do the arrangements—that took about 3 to 4 hours.

Those times the roads were safe.

Then after a while I bought my first motorbike…

But when I bought the bike I couldn't get the title…

I requested it two times in a row by post.

The first time they signed the paper wrong.

The second time they signed it wrong again.

But somebody helped me to get it sorted out.

I thank god for that...

Then later on me and my wife started doing the deliveries on that same motorbike.

Those times were exciting.

You know what I'm saying?

That's why it's important to enjoy what you're working on.

If people enjoy what they're working on, they'll work through the hard times better.

Enjoy the Process

Remember: if you want your business to succeed, you need to enjoy the process.

It's easy to do the work when things are going well and dopamine is high.

But the real test is when things get hard... When you have to ride your own metaphorical "bike" across the island just to make a delivery.

That's when your WHY has to be bigger than your wallet.

That's when passion becomes the fuel that keeps you going...

"

Because longevity is how you win this game.
